Matt Hunt is a Partner & Managing Director and Global leader of the economics team, within the Risk practice at AlixPartners, and is based in London. 

He has over 20 years’ experience advising clients on complex competition, regulatory and commercial matters that often require testimony in court. He has served as an expert in cases in the English High Court, Irish High Court, UK Competition Appeal Tribunal, and Hong Kong courts and he regularly submits expert reports to regulatory authorities and competition authorities. 

Matt has led teams of economists defending clients in major abuse of dominance and anticompetitive agreements cases. He has also advised many companies on bringing standalone competition complaints to authorities or the courts, or in defending actions in court, as well as working on numerous follow-on damages cases related to both abuse of dominance and anticompetitive agreements.  He has a strong track record leading the economic advice on mergers and joint ventures.

Matt has significant experience in the sports, financial services, electricity, healthcare, and gaming sectors. He also leads AlixPartners economics work in the telecoms, media, and technology industries. 

He holds an MSc in economics (with distinction) from the London School of Economics and an MPhys in physics (with first class) from the University of Oxford.  ​
