Ted Stafford is a Partner in the Investigations, Disputes & Advisory practice at AlixPartners, and is based in Dallas. Ted advises boards of directors, executives, attorneys, and regulators to help resolve complex accounting, transactional, regulatory, and dispute-related issues.

Ted has over 16 years of experience as an accounting expert, business advisor, diligence professional, and forensic accountant. He routinely supports clients in resolving M&A-related disputes, serving as an expert, diligence advisor, and independent accountant. 

A member of the AICPA’s Forensic and Litigation Services Committee, Ted is also a certified public account, certified in financial forensics, and a certified fraud examiner.

Ted has a MPA in Accounting from the University of Texas’s McCombs School of Business and a BA in Economics from Grinnell College. 

Key Engagements:

  • Retained as an expert, independent accountant, and consultant in dozens of post-closing disputes involving the application of accounting standards, determination of closing balance sheet measurements or earn-out provisions, breaches of representations and warranties, and allegations of fraud.
  • Provided buy-side financial due diligence, including quality of earnings and working capital analysis on a $500+ million acquisition of a sports and entertainment collectables company. 
  • Led forensic accountants, consultants, and data analytics teams on projects related to regulatory compliance, internal investigations, and litigation for several of the largest US telecommunications providers.
  • Calculated economic damages and provided forensic accounting for matters tried in federal, state, international and regulatory forums.
  • Supported clients and governmental agencies (SEC, DOJ, FTC, FDIC, SIPC, and OCC) across a broad range of forensic accounting investigations and accounting-related disputes.
